P A R A L L A X is the final degree show photography festival for Nottingham Trent University's BA Photography class of 2020. The festival is made up of eight individual exhibitions across Nottingham city centre- open from the 20th May to 3rd June.
Due to COVID-19 and the closing of university facilities these exhibitions will now no longer manifest in the physical form. Though obviously disappointed, the class of 2020 are an innovative community and present to you instead this online showcase of work. Photographs can also be found on the individual exhibition's Instagram and Facebook pages. The links to these can be found on each page of this website.
Our graduates are showcasing a variety of work- from fashion to still life, portraiture to moving image, made using various mediums; both digital and analog. Expect to find new creative projects from our emerging graduates that break the mould of picture making.
A few words from our course leader, Dr David Summerill:
Nottingham Trent University is proud to present the latest work made by students which have not only studied and practiced photography at a high level of education but have completed the process despite the turmoil which people around the globe currently endure. The work seen here began before a global pandemic literally brought business, politics and everyday life to a standstill. It culminates in the 24th Annual Degree Show Festival of the BA Hons Photography program.
The situation of studying and producing a photographic body of work required compromise, endurance and new forms of creativity. For some the situation created ways of seeing that wouldn’t have existed otherwise. For others the work is accentuated by views unique to this situation. Together there is a richness in form; a depth of meaning; and representation that is vivid, passionate and empowered.
